Methodist Hall FundraiserMurley senior and junior bands were in action last night along with Bella Voce choir to help raise funds for the Methodist Hall, Fivemiletown and the NI Hospice.
Murley Junior Band conducted by Lesley Maxwell entertained the audience with the march Maryland, Edelweiss and Keel Row. It is clear to everyone how far the junior band has moved forward and this was evidenced by the tremembous applause at the end of their set.
The senior band followed onto the stage and led by William Hill, they opened with the lively march Jubilee. James Cooke showed again what a fine player he is by easing through the tricky soprano cornet solo, Flowerdale. After an atmospheric version of Bui Doi from Miss Saigon, the band finished with the old favourite Rock Around The Clock. There was time for one encore in the form of local favourite, the march Imperial Echoes.

BBL Spring Contest 2011Murley competed in the BBL Spring Contest, held for the third year in a row in Strabane's Alley Theatre.
The band gave a good account of Eric Ball's Festival Music, but had to settle for third place behind a resurgent Strabane Concert Brass and winner's 1st Old Boys - who also won Band of the Year.
Thanks to conductor Willie Hill, Huw Thomas and all the players for their hard work in the build up. You can watch videos of the perfomance below.
